Plan the Perfect Spring Wedding or Gathering in 2025
There’s nothing quite like spring in the Okanagan—soft sun, fresh florals, and the first sprinklings of greenery up on the hills! This is one of my absolute favourite times of the year to plan a wedding or just a fun, bespoke event because the colours, trends, and overall excitement during this season makes for some of the most gorgeous details!
And as a wedding and events planner, you know I’m all about the details…
Spring goes hand-in-hand with plenty of event themes like Alice in Wonderland, Picnic in the Park, Boho Garden Party, or Cherry Blossom Festival—but I like narrowing down some of the specific touches that make spring such a fantastic time to plan a wedding or event.

Minimalist Table Settings
As an avid fan of decorations, let me be the first to tell you: minimalism isn’t boring, it’s just selective! By prioritizing small, bespoke centrepieces or simple touches, you let the smaller details shine all the more boldly. Imagine simple, timeless cutlery options without a base plate—it keeps it straight to the point, letting the colours of your table runner speak to the theme.
For added touches, bright and beautiful florals are my go-to because, after all, it’s spring! You can easily sparkle your table with so many different flower arrangements that speak to the season.
2. Bold Spring Colour Options
The darker palettes of fall and winter have come and gone leaving us with a craving for those brighter, warmer hues. For the season, I always suggest soft greens like sage aided by a splash of peachy pinks, warm yellows, and lavender purples. You can prioritize colour in your decor, or invite guests to run with it and dress in a rainbow’s worth of shades.
Easter colours go hand-in-hand with spring themed events or weddings because they make us feel joyful and energized—ready to tackle the upcoming warmer months.
3. Gourmet Grazing Tables
Spring means the start of a bountiful year ahead, so what better way to celebrate this season than with a table loaded with fruits and vegetables? Think the opposite of harvest: bright colours, plenty of fresh, local produce straight from the ground, and an assortment of both sweet and savoury options.
Toasted baguette bites or some roasted root vegetables add texture to the spread, but we want to let the fruits and berries take centre stage: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, melons, papaya, and pineapple.
The more variety in colour, the better!
4. Mix of Indoor and Outdoor
At this time of year I love to make the most out of a hybrid indoor/outdoor event or wedding because the spring smells and soft Okanagan sun are only here for a short time! The summertime can sometimes come with oppressive heat in our valley, which older guests or pregnant friends might find overwhelming—making these cooler months all the more perfect for a seamless integrated experience.
When we find the perfect venue for you, we can easily incorporate special touches that let you and your loved ones mix and mingle beneath the awnings or directly beneath the blue skies.
5. Smaller Sweets Over a Large Cake
It can be easy to lean heavily towards a beautifully decorated spring-themed cake when planning a seasonal event or wedding, but this time of year might go more hand-in-hand with a tray of bright, fun macaroons or decorated cupcakes.
Instead of one large dessert feature, consider bringing in plenty of fun tarts or tartlets topped with freshly whipped cream and a selection of fresh fruits.
Spring Party Favours
As a thank you to your guests, why not bring a touch of the season into their parting gift? I’m a big fan of celebrating spring with mini terracotta planters and a selection of beautiful flower seeds like sunflowers, marigolds, dahlias, or zinnias.
This way guests can go from watching your love grow to growing something of their own at home, looking at their new plants for the rest of the year while reminiscing on beautiful memories they shared with you on your special day.
